The Star of the East

There was a pub in Shoreditch…

About

The Star of the East is a pub in East London; Shoreditch, Haggerston, Hoxton, Bethnal Green depending on which way the wind blows. After last orders were called in the 1950’s it was used as a garment factory, a printing press, and a minicab office. At some point one of the founders of the Artangel [responsible for Rachel Whiteread's House] lived there, as well various members of Circus Space and numerous artists, musicians, and random international creative types.

When we first moved in we painted it gold but the metal in the paint soon tarnished.

Given that it has taken me 16 years to write this much, you’re not doing so badly yourself.
